Permanent Collection

The permanent collection of the Print Club of Albany began after the club was started in 1933 and has continued to grow over the years. The collection contains prize winners from national exhibitions, donations, and purchases. It now includes over 20,000 individual items including prints, drawings and plates. The collection is unique due to its breadth and depth, featuring many genres, themes, and artistic techniques.

The permanent collection covers the entire range of printmaking from the 16th Century to the present. It is strong in American works in particular, but also includes prints from throughout the world.

The Print Club of Albany is aligned with the Museum of Prints and Printmaking, at 150 Barrett Street in Schenectady, NY. The Museum is currently the only stand-alone print museum in the nation. It is a space that has evolved out of the Print Club of Albany into its own footprint, featuring multiple galleries.

The permanent collection is used for exhibitions and research and can be visited at 150 Barrett Street by appointment, or during our regular hours. We are open to the public currently on the first and third Thursdays of each month, from 4-7 PM. We are always seeking additional volunteers to docent so we can expand our availability.
